Crafty tips for your wedding

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

We have some crafty tips for you to help you personalise your wedding, and they might even save you some money.

Create your own save the date cards

Create your own place cards and save the date cards using these lovely mini-cards from Moo. You can use one of their ready-made designs, or upload your own pictures or designs for a totally unique set of cards. Moo allows you to have a different image on each card, so you can really go to town with your designs.

Chocolate truffle favours

Create your own wedding favours by combining these delicious chocolate truffles

with your own choice of favour boxes and ribbons, or keep it simple with organza bags and handwritten labels, either way, the chocolates are delicious and your guests will appreciate the time and love you have put into these.

heart candle bags
These cute wedding lanterns would light up an outdoor, country-themed or evening reception. I love the look of candlelight, and I think these would look beautiful in a country garden setting.

Hen party

Wedding Cake Preview

Friday, November 19th, 2010

We have another sneak preview for you, this fabulous wedding cake created for the equally lovely Michelle over the Halloween weekend.
Ivy & Wild Rose Wedding Cake
She wanted a cake that reflected their choice of wedding date, without being too dark or morbid, nor covered in pumpkins. Her email last week shows we got the balance just right.

“Hi Jennie, Thanks for the lovely wedding cake, it went down a storm — just the right combination of classic wedding cake and victorian gothic”

Thanks Michelle, glad you liked it!
The interior of this cake was one layer of chocolate & raspberry, with the top tier in fruitcake. We will be adding this design to our wedding cake gallery hopefully this weekend.

Kristian & Mark chose this delicious chocolate wedding cake for their Civil Partnership ceremony on the 6th November, customising it with the mixture of white and milk chocolate maltesers on the top, and the chocolate roses around the base.
Maltesers Wedding CakeThree flavours for this cake, Chocolate with white chocolate ganache, Carrot cake with orange creamcheese filling, and Coffee cake with coffee buttercream, each tier consists of 4 layers of cake with a layer of filling in between, creating a gorgeous effect when the cake is cut, particularly when the cake and filling are different colours. This is especially effective for the chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache, and I will be posting pictures of a cut cake soon.

Over the same weekend, we also created a variation on our Croquembouche Wedding Cake for Lucy and Tom. They chose to decorate their profiterole wedding cake with pink and cream sugar rosebuds, and had each profiterole filled with whipped cream.
Croquembouche Wedding Cake
Some of our customers have asked about this traditionally french wedding cake, as they have not seen these before. A Croquembouche (sometimes called a croqenbouche) is a tower of cream filled profiteroles, that would traditionally be cut by being hit with a sword. Our version is chocolate covered and can be served with tongs (or your fingers if you prefer) — we can even provide a chocolate sauce for serving

Wedding Pampering (or just a little winter treat)

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

The Body Shop are currently running a special promotion on their Body Butters and Scrubs — get two for just £15 and as a bonus, get free standard delivery on all orders for a limited time and a free gift when you spend over £25.
The wild cherry body scrub is my favourite — a really fresh scent and feels fabulous, I also like their raspberry body scrub, which feels just like raspberry jam! they don’t seem to have it at the moment tho :-(
I think I will have to try some of the other flavours too, either the sweet lemon or the satsuma body butters both sound nice. Do you have a favourite, or is there something you wish they would do?
Update 18th November, the 2 for £15 has now ended, but there are more promotions just started — like two for £8 or four for £12 on selected shower gels and two for £9 or four for £14 on their lovely gift cubes ( get several for secret santa or additional Christmas gifts)

My daughter came home yesterday with their gorgeous Spiced Vanilla lip balm, which I think is part of their new Christmas range — I have just fallen in love with it, the scent is absolutely divine, so I think I might have a shopping trip coming on! Vanilla is my all time favourite scent, it always smells so warm and comforting.
p.s. I’ve just had a quick look at their site, and they have a whole range of vanilla scented items — why not check them out

For a full-on Vanilla Indulgence, cover yourself in vanilla scents, and then top it off with a gorgeous vanilla wedding cupcake tower from Butterfly Design, or how about a Vanilla Latte Wedding Cake
