December Wedding Cakes

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

I have been a bit remiss lately, and haven’t been updating this as frequently as I should — but I will blame a busy few weeks and hosting the in-laws for Christmas dinner.

We have been creating some gorgeous cakes lately that I would like to share with you, the first one was a really unusual cake, created especially for the winter solstice at Stonehenge, for a lovely couple, Tara and Joe, for their handfasting ceremony

The inside of the cake was a rich and spicy carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

The next cake was a variation of our ‘Roses & Rings’ wedding cake, this time in a gorgeous hot pink colour scheme, and customised Bride & Groom figurines to match Helen and Mark.

Although the outside was classically traditional, the inside was a fresh and unusual twist, the bottom layer of ‘Vanilla Latte’, a light coffee sponge with rich vanilla buttercream; middle layer of chocolate cake with a white chocolate and raspberry ganache filling; and the top layer of banana sponge with a white chocolate ganache filling.

Finally, we had one of my favorite cakes, Fluttering Butterflies Wedding Cake, this time in a fabulous claret/burgundy colour scheme.

This pretty butterfly design for Jody and Gemma had a bottom layer of chocolate orange — chocolate cake with a chocolate orange filling, and a top layer of strawberries and white chocolate — light fluffy sponge with fresh strawberries and a white chocolate ganache filling.

I hope you have enjoyed these cakes, do let me know what you think!

Wedding Cake Preview

Friday, November 19th, 2010

We have another sneak preview for you, this fabulous wedding cake created for the equally lovely Michelle over the Halloween weekend.
Ivy & Wild Rose Wedding Cake
She wanted a cake that reflected their choice of wedding date, without being too dark or morbid, nor covered in pumpkins. Her email last week shows we got the balance just right.

“Hi Jennie, Thanks for the lovely wedding cake, it went down a storm — just the right combination of classic wedding cake and victorian gothic”

Thanks Michelle, glad you liked it!
The interior of this cake was one layer of chocolate & raspberry, with the top tier in fruitcake. We will be adding this design to our wedding cake gallery hopefully this weekend.

Kristian & Mark chose this delicious chocolate wedding cake for their Civil Partnership ceremony on the 6th November, customising it with the mixture of white and milk chocolate maltesers on the top, and the chocolate roses around the base.
Maltesers Wedding CakeThree flavours for this cake, Chocolate with white chocolate ganache, Carrot cake with orange creamcheese filling, and Coffee cake with coffee buttercream, each tier consists of 4 layers of cake with a layer of filling in between, creating a gorgeous effect when the cake is cut, particularly when the cake and filling are different colours. This is especially effective for the chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache, and I will be posting pictures of a cut cake soon.

Over the same weekend, we also created a variation on our Croquembouche Wedding Cake for Lucy and Tom. They chose to decorate their profiterole wedding cake with pink and cream sugar rosebuds, and had each profiterole filled with whipped cream.
Croquembouche Wedding Cake
Some of our customers have asked about this traditionally french wedding cake, as they have not seen these before. A Croquembouche (sometimes called a croqenbouche) is a tower of cream filled profiteroles, that would traditionally be cut by being hit with a sword. Our version is chocolate covered and can be served with tongs (or your fingers if you prefer) — we can even provide a chocolate sauce for serving

Rose Wedding Cupcakes

Monday, September 27th, 2010

We delivered and setup 200 of these gorgeous little cupcakes for John and Carol for their wedding reception held in a beautiful marquee not far from where they live. The venue looked stunning, draped in shades of antique rose — I’m sorry that I did not get a picture, it really looked fab.

I love the way the piping on these cute cupcakes looks just like an opening rose — it matched Carol’s bouquet perfectly

You can order these pretty wedding cupcakes for your wedding or celebration — customise the colours and flavours to suit you.
