Wedding Cupcakes

Made popular by Sex & the City, cupcakes have had a real renaissance recently, as a totally indulgent mouthful that can be endlessly adapted, mixed and matched to suit you.

Iced, or topped with swirls of buttercream, ganache, or meringue, Butterfly Design Wedding Cupcakes make a fantastic centerpiece for your big day.

Whether you want totally indulgent Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting, light & zesty Lemon Curd cupcakes, rich and fudgy chocolate wedding cupcakes, or something more unusual (think carrotcake, coffee cake, or even petit fours), wedding cupcakes are the way to cater for all tastes.

You can either have all the cupcakes for your wedding cake the same flavour, or why not mix and match the flavours to suit you.

Alternative Wedding Cakes

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

We’ve had a swathe of requests recently, for “wedding cakes that aren’t fruitcake”, and while I personally love fruitcake, I understand the desire for something a bit more unusual, and more personal to your special day.

Here at Butterfly Design, we specialise in unconventional and exceptional cakes, so I decided to share some of our special cakes with you.
Croquembouche Wedding Cake
For a real “Wow” factor, it is hard to top a Croquembouche. Croquembouche or croquenbouche is a traditional French wedding cake, a kind of piece montee often served at weddings, composed of a towering mountain of profiteroles (also known as cream puffs, choux buns or eclairs), held together with either caramel or chocolate. Traditionally, this cake is served by getting the bridesmaids to hold the corners of the tablecloth up, and striking the croquembouche with a sword. For a slightly neater method of serving, each guest can help themselves, either with fingers or tongs — depending on the formality of the occasion!

Not keen on wedding cake? Our gorgeous cheesecakes might just hit the mark. A rich new-york style baked cheesecake, with three or more tiers, topped with cream and fresh fruit, sugar flowers, or fantastic fresh flowers to match your bouquet. You can even have your cheesecake covered in icing so it looks like a traditional wedding cake! The choice of flavours for a cheesecake is even greater than an iced wedding cake — why not try one of these delicious options.
